Do I have to register?

Yes registration is required if you wish to bid in a traditional auction. Registration is on the day of the auction. You will be required to provide your full name or company name, email address, postal address and telephone number as security.

Is there a charge to register?

Registration is free.

When can I view goods that are for sale?

Most of our auctions have a public viewing time the day before the auction day. All details of these viewing times are published on our website.

When is the auction catalogue available?

The catalogue for each auction is available the day prior to an auction and published on the website.

What is the order of the auction?

The auction is conducted strictly in numerical order.

What is the Buyers Premium?

A Buyer's Premium is a levy charged by the auction house which is paid by the buyer in addition to the hammer price. The Buyer’s Premium is inclusive of GST. Unless stated otherwise our Buyer’s Premium is 15%.

What is a reserve price?

A reserve price may be set by the vendor. It is a level that until reached the auctioneer has no authority to sell.

Do all lots have a reserve price?

Not all lots will have a reserve price and this is agreed between the vendor and Mainland Auctions prior to the auction.

What happens if something does not sell?

You can approach a member of our staff after the auction is finished to purchase an item that did not sell who in turn may contact the vendor with your offer for his/her approval to accept or decline.

Can I place an absentee bid?

Yes. You are welcome to place absentee bids. However we strongly recommend that you have personally inspected items you wish to purchase. Any absentee bids and subsequent purchase of an item without physically viewing is at your own risk.

Am I able to sell items at auction?

Yes we accept suitable items for sale. Please telephone or visit our auction rooms and our staff will happily assess the item/s for you without obligation or costs as to the most financially beneficial method of sale.

How do I subscribe for email reminders?

Please subscribe to our email list. Fill in your details and you will automatically be sent an email each time an auction is advertised.
